KubeCon History
KubeCon is a well-known conference for the Kubernetes community. It focuses on Kubernetes, the open-source container orchestration platform originally developed by Google and now maintained by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). KubeCon events bring together developers, operators, and users of Kubernetes to collaborate, share best practices, and discuss the latest developments in the Kubernetes ecosystem.
A Brief history of KubeCon:
KubeCon 2015: The first KubeCon took place in San Francisco, California, from November 9 to 12, 2015. It marked the beginning of a dedicated event for the Kubernetes community. At this point, Kubernetes was gaining significant traction in the container orchestration space.
KubeCon 2016: KubeCon 2016 was held in Seattle, Washington, from November 8 to 9. It continued to attract a growing number of attendees interested in Kubernetes and container technologies.
KubeCon 2017: In 2017, KubeCon expanded to include events in both Europe and North America. KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America took place in Austin, Texas, in December, while KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe was held in Berlin in March. These events demonstrated the global interest in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
KubeCon 2018: This year, KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America was held in Seattle, while KubeCon + CloudNativeCon Europe took place in Copenhagen. The conference continued to grow in terms of attendance and the number of sponsors and exhibitors.
KubeCon 2019: KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America was held in San Diego, and the European edition took place in Barcelona. Both events drew thousands of attendees and featured a wide range of talks, tutorials, and workshops.
KubeCon 2020: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America and Europe in 2020 transitioned to virtual events. This format allowed even more participants to join from around the world and still provided valuable content and networking opportunities.
KubeCon 2021: KubeCon + CloudNativeCon North America 2021 was planned to be a hybrid event, offering both in-person and virtual attendance options. The European edition was fully virtual. These conferences continued to explore the latest developments in the cloud-native ecosystem and Kubernetes.
